MACs VS PCs a short conversation
All I’m saying is that I have had many of both kinds and the PC’s have always crapped out on me long before the Macs have and the Macs have always cost far more than the PC’s, but like buying a mattress, even the best inflatable ones will eventually get a slow leak in them and become more of a pain in the ass to pump back up to full functionality than buying a regular mattress.
Anyway, Joel was having some strange error on one of his PC’s "Cannot start the graphical interface due to an unexpected error" and he let us know, which of course opened the flood gates for the following Mac vs Pc conversation we sometimes have. Joel is one of those smart guys who knows stuff about stuff, he also thinks Mac’s aren’t worth it, but I’m actually using mine haha!
No offensive to Thomas Kinkaid, but he is exactly the the type of daubing hack that Paul Gauguin wrote about, he breaks no new ground and just like it took the Impressionists to change the paradigm from stodgy academic painting ‘by the book’ to painting just as well but differently, Apple forced Microsoft to improve it’s OS, and because of that competition we are exponentially better off in what we can do on our computers.
If Windows was the only OS we’d not be much better than Windows 95 at this point in my opinion, perhaps a nice polished version of 95 but with no MAC OSX to compete with why would they have changed anything?
by the way, Nobelium has a half life of a little less than 3 hrs which I would expect would be long enough for you to get a virus, a trojan or a graphical interface error on your PC if you just turned it on and connected it to the internet right out of the box. What do you think?

Hello Darren! I found your blog site quite by accident. Thanks for putting me on your “tops” list.
I’ve been reading the comments on MAC vs PC to my husband who is PC bound and thinks it’s all that – except for when he has to go to his parents house and fix the PC they have. This happens often…very often…
So I’ve been reading the comments and laughing about it. I think he’s starting to get it – as we have a Mac at the house which he has no choice but to use. Complaints about “useless Macintosh computers” are a lot less these days.

BTW – love the poetry.

Hi Laura, I am happy to entertain you on my humble blog! Yeah, it’s a no brainer with the Mac vs PC debate, I’ve had so many of each that it’s statistically improbable that all my PCs crap out a good 2 years before my Macs do (only one wore out from heavy use, the others I just swapped for other computers), the PC’s, with all the virus software and firewalls and haz-mat suits all eventually crap out, or in the case of windows ME were just crap from the beginning!
Thanks for liking my poetry, I am quite proud of each one and they all have good memories associated with them!

haha! great post. So many sad truths in it/ I use to be a Mac guy back in the day when designers were mac only. But I do love my PC (it’s waaay cheaper and I have that critical thinking-fixing the pc thing going). It’s blasphemy for me to accept the pc, since I’m a web designer and all.
But you are right Darren, Apple did forced Microsoft to improve it’s OS.
