This page will use the power of sitemaps and search engines like Google to prove the usefulness of social networking, specifically in networking the arts my local area (Monmouth County NJ USA). For example, if you search Google for the name of the communications director for The Monmouth County Arts Council, half of the images you find will be of my art! and they are also linking to my art blog!
So by simply having a page that lists the names of the people associated with the arts in my local area those people will find my art when they (ultimately and invariably) search for their own names in Google.
If I happen to be the only website with pictures indexed by google that mentions the persons name then all the pictures associated with that persons name will be my pictures!
There are hundreds of artists in my local area, Most of them I can’t find on the web (without already knowing them).
I met Sven Widen at SICA, found his page on The Guild of Creative Art site .
Just down the road from Red Bank in Long Branch, The Shore Institute of The Contemporary Arts is doing a fine job of keeping their web site up to date and welcomes volunteers.
