1: I love to talk about the Italian Renaissance artists, not in a dry art history way, but like Vasari did, full of personal bias and love..

Last Supper by Tintoretto

I think that Tintoretto in the late Renaissance really took art into the realm of the surreal with his Last Supper painting. The composition is totally fresh and the perspective is sweet and to not know his work is like a 80′s rap greatest hits CD without the Fat Boys on it. Just as The Fat Boys added a style of hiphop that was more story telling than bad-ass bragging, Tintoretto (real name Jacopo Comin; September 29, 1518 – May 31, 1594) took the genre to a new level and was a direct link to the next great phase of art, The Baroque. To understand the Baroque period of art, think of The Cure, they started as a punk band in the first great wave of punk (think of Michelangelo’s mind blowing murals in the Sistine Chapel as culturally important as The Clash and The Sex Pistols when they started) but The Cure realized they were too good to just stay there, writing punk songs, and because they did, the result is some of the most creative and powerful music that continues to delight new generations of fans.

shooting star allegory#2: I’m working on a shooting star design for a tattoo for my friend and model for my art, Beff.I love the idea that my art will be on the model that inspires my art, it has a comforting loop of goodness!

WE TWO STARS
We two stars burn so intense
without pretence or fuss
and what would we say
if somewhere far away
someone made a wish upon us?
for the darker the night the brighter the light
that shines for every face
so get up and stay in the vast milky way
and add your light to the space!

#3: This year, in may, makes ten years since I graduated from bradley University and formed Riverfront Media with my friend DJ Disaster. We have had a lot of adventures, done many many projects ranging from from filming events and making DVD’s to recording and producing bands. This year we might actually make some money (instead of rolling it all into pancakes and cool equipment!

#4: I love the tv show Lost, it’s awesome fun!

#5: I write cheesy poetry, see above

#6: I forgot what number 6 was for…

oops here are the people I tag

Lysh because she’s creative and inspirational and loves her cat and art!

Geno because he is the coolest and a good writer!

Nicola because she is lovely and a genius!

Gypsy-Heart because she makes me want to paint more!

I’ll finish this later (you know, like Michelangelo said about the Medici tomb hehe! (think G&R’s last album as a comparison!)

  1. Genius? Oh geez, I hardly think so.

Yer killin’ me (in the best possible way) with comparing 80s music to classical painting.

    Only you. ;)
