Lots of individual struggling artists have been able to make money with the help of these non-profit arts orgainizations, who will pay visual artists, actors and musicians to get out into the schools and teach kids about art. You are right, lots of kids these days would rather go to a rock concert than a classical one, and much rather go to a movie than live theatre, or an art museum. One of the major arts organizations in Oregon had to shut down this year due to lack of government funding. They were able to reach a lot of schools in rural areas, who now will have no art whatsoever in any of their schools. But then again our country never has cared about its youth!
