		<description>Great post on randomness... I remember a few years ago the Search for Extra-terestrial Intelligence (SETI), had a parody version of it featuring randomness. Along with downloading the SETI at Home software you could download the Search for the Amazing Coincidence at home. The premise was that a very amazingly rare event would appear. Recently there are others who have been conducting research using random number generators who have discovered that random numbers can be effected by catastrophic events. Such events skewe the distribution of heads vs tails and such things so that they stay away from. If the research holds up to further scrutiny then it reveals something very interesting about the world. Randomness often doesn&#039;t seem random at all. Or perhaps it is a function of the human condition that we spot patterns in the randomness and make believe them to be something more...</description>
