tree of life blue oil paint glaze progress
This is the one i’ve been working on today and yesterday, I’m adding a blue oil paint glaze to add shadows and details, you can see that i have splattered paint thinner over the glaze to remove random parts, most of the splatters will be worked into the canvas to look like the detail you can see on the green leaves surrounding the yellow orb! Oh, if you try this technique remember to ventilate the room!!!

Update on this painting!
oil on canvas 36×48 inches.
This painting has several ‘Freudian’ motifs that suggest fertility and the male/female dynamic. The tree and it’s branches are male symbols and the ocean in the background is a female symbol . The lady at the front is either dressing or undressing, the viewer will decide which one and the horse is a symbol for virility (also it’s there so children can touch it and perhaps be inspired to take up art).
This painting is not just about good old sex it is a metaphor for creation, inspiration and life, how precious and magical it is.
I put a lot of white paint on this today and it has quite a bit of detail that is not visible in this particular shot but when it’s done I’d like you to see the textures. The horse is quite furry and those are waves with spray the clouds at the top have a ‘glow’ from a fine mist of white paint too.
I have gold leaf ready for the yellow orb but have to work on the waves and the girl and the horse first. I’ll probably do several more layers of oil glazes on this one before it’s done but it’s getting finished!
